Here's a library that links the Leviton to Home Assistant:
https://github.com/schmittx/home-assist ... smart_wifi

You might be able to figure out the core code which actually performs the action, then put it in your own code. However, having done a bit of searching I'd recommend something else instead of the Leviton switch.

Shelly is a good option as you can link directly to the unit over the network and send commands. You could also get one of the popular Tuya devices and blow its brains out with Tasmota, which you can also control directly. You could get a plug-in module for a wall outlet and install your bulb into a lamp of some description.

If you want an integrated solution then look at Philips Hue or IKEA Tradfri (or whatever they are calling it these days). You can get a Python library to control these devices through a hub or USB interface.

I wouldn't recommend tying yourself to any home automation ecosystem from a single vendor. They all suck and none of them want to interoperate, despite claims to the contrary. I also wouldn't, long term, roll your own software if you're going beyond a couple of devices. Try an open source solution such as Home Assistant or Domoticz. They both do a great job of presenting a unified front end whilst seamlessly integrating disparate devices behind the scenes.
