W.r.t. "USB3-to-NVMe M2" adapters/cases FWIW I've (briefly) tried these two, with drives too long for the P5 M2 Hat+ out:

Both enclosures use a Realtek chipset similar to my newest "full-sized" SSD enclosure by Ugreen which said "test P4B" is now currently USB-booting Bookworm from.
