Troubleshooting • Re: Pi 5: display sleeps and immediately wakes back up

Hi:

I was able to duplicate the issue.

Here are the steps I went through

1. I created a SSD image using Pi Installer for each of the OS versions 2024-03-12, 2024-03-15 and 2024-07-04. For each boot image the following steps were taken
A. To '/boot/firmware/cmdline.txt' added 'vc4.force_hotplug=1" to the end of line
B. Using raspberry configuration tool in the display tab turned on screen blanking
C. To "~/.config/wayfire.ini" changed dpms_timeout=600 to 300 (to simply speed up process)
D. Rebooted the OS

In each case the OS correctly blanked the screen and placed the screen into sleep mode after 300 seconds.

2. Using the 2024-07-04 image I changed the "vc4.force_hotplug" from 1 to 3 and added a second monitor. The system was rebooted and correctly blanked the screen and placed the screen into sleep mode.

3. Applied the all the updates available using the the update tool located on the task bar. In this case after the OS was rebooted and the looping issue started.

There were many updates applied. Is there a way to isolate the updates and selectively apply them in order to find the update causing the issue.

I appreciate the support and look forward any suggestions.

Thank you
