Hello,
I have finally found the time to run the test.
I ran update && upgrade -y and upgraded everything to most recent versions.

I modified the cmdline.txt as suggested, and removed the reference to the modified edid binary. The Monitor then defaults to 1920x1080. Arandr does not show a 1024x600 resolution available.
